Rotary evaporator is a commonly used equipment in the laboratory. It consists of a distillation flask, a heating pot, and a condenser. It is mainly used for continuous distillation of volatile solvents under reduced pressure. It is used in biomedical, chemical, and chemical fields. When using a rotary evaporator, you should pay attention to:
1. Water bath is not allowed to dry without water, add water before power on.
2. The airtightness of each joint, sealing surface and glass bottle will affect the vacuum degree, so pay attention to check frequently.
3. Each interface, sealing surface, sealing ring and joint need to be coated with a layer of vacuum grease before installation.
4. If the viscosity of the distilled sample is high, the rotation speed should not be too fast, it is best to rotate slowly manually to form a new liquid level to facilitate solvent evaporation.
5. When using, vacuum first, and then rotate to prevent the distillation flask from slipping. When stopping, stop the rotation, hold the distillation flask by hand, and open the atmosphere. Wait until the vacuum drops to about 0.04Mpa before stopping the vacuum pump to prevent distillation Bottles fall off and suck back.
6. For rotary evaporation of air-sensitive substances, connect a nitrogen balloon to the exhaust port, first pass a burst of nitrogen, exhaust the air in the rotary instrument, and then connect the sample bottle to spin. After steaming, release nitrogen to increase the pressure, then turn off the pump, then remove the sample bottle and seal it.
